According to recent reports, the National Agency For Food And Drug Administration Control (NAFDAC) has begun a nationwide crackdown on the manufacturers and distributors of some named sex enhancing products in the country. The Director General of the Agency, Mojisola Adeyeye disclosed this at a news conference in Abuja.

She explained that the following enhancing products have been flagged through clinical analysis, which showed they are harmful and could damage the liver and kidney. The products listed by Mrs Adeyeye include:
1. An alcoholic bitters product popularly known as Japata.
2. Kurkura, used particularly in the South West and North and has five types, including Five minutes’ power herbal medicine, Haonu laha herbal mixture, Gamzaki tradomedical herbal ventures, and Barakallahu multipurpose herbal mixture.
3. Gagare manpower, Minister for manpower, Almenjou for lazy men in bed, Nisan zango karfin maza, Shagalin ka manpower, Dakan jiya manpower enhancement, Wuff male sexual performance and Afafata – all of which are used mainly in Kaduna State.

Mrs Mojisola went on to say that some of these products are duly registered with the agency but have now been flagged because they were found to be laced with cannabis and marijuana. She concluded that these products are one of the reasons for the high rate of mortality and criminality, including rape, Kidnapping and murder.
She urged well meaning Nigerians to be watchful of these products and report the producers and distributors of these drugs and others to the NAFDAC or other law enforcement agencies.
