Police operatives in Niger State have arrested a notorious kidnapper, Nasiru Isyaka, in Kontagora Local Government Area after he made the shocking mistake of paying a condolence visit to one of his victims.
According to SP Wasiu Abiodun, the spokesperson for the Niger State Police Command, Isyaka and his gang were responsible for a December 29, 2024, attack in Sabon-Gari Mangu Matachibu village. During the attack, they killed one person and abducted two others, who were later rescued through a joint security operation.
Isyaka, a resident of the same village, was apprehended on January 17, 2025, when he visited the home of one of the rescued victims. The victim immediately recognized him as one of the kidnappers and alerted the authorities.
The police recovered a locally made short gun from Isyaka, who later confessed to the crime during preliminary investigations.
This incident highlights the effective efforts of the police in tackling crime in the state.
