Residents of a community in Lagos that have been battling with incessant robberies were thrown into a surprising state when two notorious robbers terrorizing people in Lagos along Ikotun- Igando axis gave a reason why they should not be prosecuted. The two suspects identified as Sunkanmi Emmanuel a. k. a Federal and Ahmed Agunbiade a. k. a Omojoyibo were arrested on their way to another robbery operation.

It was learned that the suspects claimed they never attacked a poor or innocent man. According to them, they usually robbed club goers who had money to waste especially yahoo boys.

” I don’ t rob innocent people. It is Yahoo boys who have money that I rob. I use the money I get to take care of my family. I have five children from two wives. “

30- year- old Emmanuel, father of five said that he resolved to rob people after his employer’ s business crashed. He said he and his co- robber usually go to clubs, drink with the yahoo boys after which they would pretend like they were their fans. Often, they would walk them outside and rob them as soon as they noticed no one is passing by.

However, a police source told a news reporter from WEEK DAYS that the suspect also went for well- planned robbery operations.

” They specialised in robbing people at night at gunpoint. Three guns were recovered from them. They have a standby motorcyclist who takes them to locations where they carry out their operations. The two prime suspects (Federal and Omojoyibo) were traced to a hotel at Totowu. A motorcycle was recovered from them.

” Ogunsanya, aka Dotman is the major receiver. There are other suspects at large who sold stolen items to him. Federal is a member of Eye Cult. They would go to clubs and hotels and rob visitors there while they were leaving. They terrorize Idimu, Igando and Ikotun areas of the state, ” a police source said.

Emmanuel believes their offense should be overlooked since they are robbing people who technically also robbed others.
