Over 10,000 APC, PDP Members Decamp To NNPP

The Jigawa State chapter of the New Nigerian People Party (NNPP) received over 10,000 decampees from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the People Democratic Party (PDP), including former senators, reps members.

This was disclosed by the state’s caretaker committee chairman, former Senator Musa Bako Aujara while speaking to newsmen shortly after the formal handing over of the party to the new elected state’s party executive at the secretariat said “among the decampees included former commissioners, local government chairmen and special advisers and assistance.

Peter Obi, Tambuwal To Meet PDP National Assembly Caucus

Aminu Tambuwal governor of Sokoto, and Peter Obi, former governor of Anambra state, are expected to meet with the members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the national assembly today

Femi Gbajabiamila, speaker of the house, read Tambuwal and Obi’s letter of request for a meeting with the PDP legislators during the plenary session on Tuesday.

The letter was signed by Ndudi Elumelu, the minority leader of the house of representatives.

PDP Faction In Anambra Suspends Acting Chairman Okey Asolo

A faction of the People’s Democratic Party in Anambra has suspended Okey Asolo, acting chairman of the party in the state.

Mr Asolo was suspended by the PDP ward leadership in Ward 13 Onitsha North LGA which accused him of violation of party constitution and anti-party activities.

Mr Asolo, who took over from Ndubuisi Nwobu, had on April 2 suspended Chris Uba, a member of PDP Board of Trustees and Linus Ukachukwu, a chieftain of the party.

INEC Reveals Why Parties May Not Participate In Elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has given reasons why political parties may not be allowed to nominate candidates for the 2023 general elections.

WEEKDAYS reports that the Presidential and National Assembly elections would be held on Saturday, February 25, 2023, while the Governorship and State Assembly elections come up on Saturday, March 11, 2023.

INEC’s timetable indicates that political parties are to commence primary elections from April 4, 2022, to June 3, 2022.
