The Headquarters of the Nigerian Army has released a statement through Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations, confirming the discovery of weapons caches and sensitive materials belonging to the Nigeria’s political umpire INEC during a special military operations at various criminal’s hideouts in search of abducted personnel.

He added that the troops have been conducting search-and-rescue operations for the missing soldier, during which they clashed with gunmen. Nwachukwu also elaborated on the gravity of the situation while confirming that sensitive materials belonging to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) have been recovered

The Army Public Relations Officer also confirmed the recovery of two locally fabricated AK 47 rifles, four Pump Action guns, one locally made Pistol, one Sniper rifle, six magazines, 13 rounds of 7.62mm (NATO) and one Motorcycle which are being used by criminals to attack remote and distant communities.

Sadly, a military officer paid the ultimum sacrifice during fire exchange with criminals. The military assured that the operation will be sustained to rescue the abducted personnel.
