Today was a bad day for the indigenes of Kogi East as they woke up with very sad and unfortunate news of the assassinations of three police officers by hired assassins in uniform. This was confirmed by the SDP candidate, his excellency Muritala Yakubu Ajaka today.
According to Muri, he was the target but was saved by God’s grace. He was bid to be in his hometown as at when the hired assassins invaded the apartment that led to the death of the policemen legally stationed in the premises of the party’s DG.
Kogites have lost count of state’s politically sponsored assassinations under the watch of Kogi state governor, Yahaya Adoza Bello.
Most of the people assassinated thus far are of the Eastern extraction who had worked for the governor in time pasts and wished to renege their loyalty haven realized how deeply endangered the good people of Kogi state have become under his stiff rule and reckless embezzlements.
Recall that Bello was rejected by the people of Kogi state in the 2015 APC gubernatorial primary election because of his kleptomaniac and infamous antecedents before he was unfortunately made to inherit late prince Abubakar Audu’s victory who died in victory. Since Bello was favored on religious grounds and the conspiracy of ethnic dominance by the then administration, the state has known no peace and development. The entire state has become an abattoir where innocent blood is spilled on a daily basis.
Aside from assassinating his former close political allies, one of his major targets is to inflame the level of insecurity in the Eastern region of the state in ensuring it becomes difficult to conduct free and fair elections. This is to strategically make rigging possible.
It is said, the population of the East is of great concern to him, and part of a collective strategy is to massively reduce the population strength through sponsored assassinations. Thus far, more than fifty people have fallen to sponsored political assassinations with all fingers pointing to Bello.
The SDP gubernatorial candidate, His Excellency Yakubu Muri Ajaka has escaped multiple politically sponsored assassination allegedly believed to be of Bello’s orchestration. The recent one is the Anyingba massacre where three policemen were gunned down by Bello’s hired assassins in military uniform.
The federal government must not allow this blood littering to continue unabated. Bello has boasted that even president Bola Ahmed Tinubu has no say in the state’s affairs, however, the federal government is in full control of the nation’s security architecture and must not allow such sensitive determinants to become a tool in the hands of the Naxist.
